Version
745 Escalation, 8.3% vol.
Hops
Simcoe, Chinook, Columbus, Amarillo
When I bought this brew and saw the 83 IBU on the label I thought, thats gonna be a "bitter end" but even for people who don´t usually drink Double IPAs or IPAs it´s worth a try. The IBUs aren´t that wild. The smell ot the 745 reminds me on fermented juice and is very heavy on the first sip. Although there are 4 different kinds of hops included, the characteristic hops taste stays in the background. Also you can taste and feel the 8,3% which doesn´t really make the 745 Escalation a "Monday to Friday Beer".
Tastewise I have to admit it´s not mine at all but you better try it yourself.
UPDATE:
I got some bad commetns about this review coming from people who really like the 7:45 Escalation a lot. So I gave it another try and I have to say it´s a perfect example for how craft beer can differ between their batches. This time there was no fermented fruit smell, it was all fruity and fresh. Tastewise I was also very surprised. The hops flavor was stronger and more defined and balanced as before. To keep a long story short, the 7:45 Escalation is a very good IPA at the end with a rich fruity smell, a refreshing taste and a strong body. Therefore I changed my scores accordingly.
